When I heard that WWE was releasing yet another Stone Cold Steve Austin video, I was excited to say the least. He sure has had a lot of videos released about his career in the WWE. I currently own close to every video that has been released up to this point.
The problem for me, was that all of them to this date had never done Steve Austin’s legacy the justice it deserves. He is my all time favourite wrestler and I would like to remember him with a dvd that summarizes his career as best as it can.
There are so many memorable highlights from his career, and to fit it on four discs still wouldn’t be giving it justice. To be honest I was a bit skeptical when this was being promoted. I often wondered if this was “IT”, the product that I have been waiting for.
The first disc is the biography from start to finish, which is approximately 150 minutes in length. It has interviews from various wrestlers that share their thoughts and experiences of Stone Cold. Superstars such as, Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, CM Punk and many more.
That first disc was excellent and really shows how much of a pioneer he was for the whole wrestling industry. I really miss those days when I was a kid cheering for him no matter the outcome.
The second and third discs were matches handpicked by Steve Austin himself. As an added bonus, Jim Ross had some alternate commentary on a few of his matches. There’s a lot of fantastic matches featured on those discs. It was great to see some matches that weren’t strictly from the pay-per-views.
Some of the matches that stood out to me was the Wrestlemania 13 Submission match against Bret Hart. The D-Generation X: In Your House match with The Rock for the Intercontinental title. Last but not least the 2001 No Mercy Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship, with Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle.
The fourth and final disc was an extras disc filled with a variety of promo’s, memorable moments, stunners and more comments from superstars past and present. I thoroughly enjoyed the “Stunner” montage.
I was impressed this dvd covered his most memorable matches that he had during his time in the WWE. His matches were fantastic but to not show all the other antics that he had stirred up, wouldn’t have given his legacy justice. Some of those moments were the best in the history of the WWE. That’s where I felt a lot of his other videos fell short of.
If you’re a fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin, this video is for you. It’s a must have, packed with everything you need to know and see from the “Texas Rattlesnake”. The most hardcore SCSA fan might even find something new in this well made package.
